Affiliate disclosure

The plain version: we get paid when you buy software through our links. Here is exactly how that works, and what we do about the conflict of interest it creates.

How we make money

The SaaS Wire is reader-supported and funded by affiliate commissions. Many of the software companies we write about run partner programs: if you click a link on this site, sign up, and become a paying customer, the vendor pays us a percentage of what you pay them — or a one-off referral fee.

You never pay more because of us. The price is the same as it would be if you had typed the vendor's address into your browser directly. In some cases our links carry a reader discount or an extended trial, in which case you pay less.

Which links are affiliate links

Assume that any link pointing to a software vendor's website is an affiliate link unless we say otherwise. We mark commercial links with rel="sponsored" in the page source, and every page that contains them carries a disclosure at the top, before the first recommendation — not only in the footer.

Where a tool we recommend has no affiliate program, or where we chose not to join one, we say so on the page. Those recommendations earn us nothing, and we include them because the alternative — quietly omitting the best option because it doesn't pay — is the thing that makes most affiliate sites useless.

What the commission does not buy

  • Not placement. No vendor can pay to be included, ranked higher, or described more kindly. We have never accepted a payment for placement and will not.
  • Not approval. No vendor reviews our content before it publishes. No vendor gets a veto over a criticism.
  • Not silence. We publish the real drawbacks of every tool we recommend, including the ones that pay us the most.

We write the ranking first and attach the affiliate links afterwards, specifically so that the commission rate cannot quietly become a ranking factor. Our full methodology, including the honest limits of our testing, is documented in How we test.

How you should read us anyway

Healthy scepticism is the right response to any affiliate-funded publication, including this one. Some practical advice:

  • Check whether the review names specific, checkable drawbacks. Vague ones ("the interface takes some getting used to") are filler.
  • Check the "last updated" date against the vendor's current pricing page. Stale pricing is the most common failure in this genre.
  • Check whether the article ever recommends something it clearly doesn't earn from. If it never does, treat the whole thing as advertising.
  • Trust the free trial more than you trust us. Every tool we recommend can be tried before you commit; do that.

Other relationships

We do not run display advertising, sponsored posts, or paid guest posts, and we do not sell links. If that ever changes, this page will change with it, before the first such item publishes.

We are not investment, legal, tax or accounting advisers. Nothing here is professional advice for your specific situation — software that suits most businesses may be wrong for yours.

Who we are
